Meet Enzo! Our 1 year old Dachshund. Enzo had a difficult start to life which means he has some behavioural quirks which will require work in his forever home - pleased read Enzo's profile carefully before applying for him!

Enzo's personality is true to the nature of the breed, he is independent, stubborn and a very vocal boy! He forms very strong bonds with his handlers and it can take him a while to get to know new people. He loves playing with his toys... Especially anything that squeaks! And he loves to play chase in our off lead pen with his handlers. Enzo will occasionally ask for affection - but cuddles are not his favourite thing!

Enzo can be quite worried about new experiences and will often bark to let you know this! His new family will need to be dedicated to his confidence building training and general 'focus' work. Enzo can bark at people, dogs and traffic (as some examples) so a home with walks which will not overwhelm him and his training can we worked on gradually would be best for him. Due to his uncertainty of new situations Enzo is being muzzle trained and he is doing amazing with this - his future home will need to continue this work so he can happily wear his muzzle when he needs to.

Due to Enzo's past, he does show guarding behaviour, this will require careful management in the home. Therefore, a home with no children will be required. Due to his reactive nature he will also need to be the only dog in the home. Enzo would do best in a home with few visitors. Once Enzo is settled he may be able to be left for short periods. Due to the nature of the kennel environment, we do not know if Enzo is house trained.

Enzo would be best suited to a confident and experienced home. He has made signficant progress in his training during his stay with us, but it will be vital that his training is continued once adopted. Although he is extremely cute and small, he needs a home who will take him and his needs seriously. Enzo will need continued positive reinforcement training.
