Great Show at Annual Sponsored Walk
14th May 2012
On Sunday 13th May, eleven of our centre dogs got a fantastic 7 mile walk as part of the Church and Oswaldtwistle Annual Rotary Club “Walk 4 Your Charity” event which raises over £60,000 each year for local charities.
This brilliantly organised local event starts at the Junction 7 business estate and heads onto the Leeds to Liverpool canal, where over 1,000 walkers meandered along the canal towards Rishton before heading back towards Clayton Le Moors along the disused railway line.
Not only is this a terrific fundraising event for RSPCA Lancashire East branch and many other local charities, but it is also a wonderful day out for our centre dogs, who love the 7 miles of exercise. This year we were lucky enough to have 11 dogs involved, walked by 16 volunteers from Altham animal centre. The lucky dogs were Maxi, Tia, Tyler, Floss, Scrappy, Buzz, Dash, Bradley, Sam, Digsby and Breeze. Well done guys!
But, the fundraising and the dog walking could not have been achieved without our brilliant volunteers Yvonne Hacking, Carl Egan, Emma Egan, Jessica Burgess, Simon Evans, Liz Evans, Jacqui Lonsdale, Christine Birch, Wendy Taylor, Mary Greenwood, Barbara Green, Linda Wilkinson, Steve Suttie, Jeanette Ainscough and Ken Harrison. Thank you everybody.
We will publish details of how much was raised once all of the sponsorship money has been collected! We must say a huge thank you to the wonderful people of Church and Oswaldtwistle Rotary Club for organising such a fantastic charity event that does so much good across our community.
Well done everybody.
