100 MILE WALK CHALLENGE!
On Sunday the 14th August, our Branch Manager Ken Harrison and our Honorary Secretary Wendy Taylor will be starting a 100 mile sponsored walk in aid of the animals at the RSPCA Lancashire East Altham Animal Centre – and they want more walkers to join them.
The Grassington to East Coast Walk crosses 100 miles of wonderful country. It starts at Grassington in the heart of Wharfedale, continues through Upper Nidderdale, across the Moors above Fountain’s Abbey and then through Masham on to the Vale of Mowbray. The walk follows recognised rights of way, moorland paths and quiet country lanes. Eventually the route climbs onto the Cleveland Ridge and continues east along the lower slopes of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, through Hawnby, Hutton-le-Hole, Lastingham and Saltergate. The final day crosses the vast open space of Fylingdales Moor to reach the East Coast above Ravenscar and then to Robin Hood’s Bay after a short stroll along the beach from Boggle Hole. This journey will take 7 days, A really good walk for all ages and fitness levels - which is a pleasure to walk at any time of the year.
